As an Accountant, you will ensure financial accounting and prepare reports in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and OP Pohjola policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
• control and reconcile daily transaction data from banking product accounting systems, ensuring correct entry into the accounting system (Standard ERP/SAP)
• prepare invoices for customers
• process incoming invoices and prepayments ensuring proper control, and make corresponding entries in the accounting system
• execute payments for incoming invoices via online banking and process bank account statements in the accounting system
• prepare and process leasing buyout settlements and balance confirmation reports
• calculate VAT and CIT and submit tax declarations to the State Revenue Service (VID)
• prepare and submit reports to various institutions
• participate in OP Pohjola and local projects
• ensure storage of branch accounting documents in accordance with Latvian legislation and OP Pohjola policies and procedures
• monitor changes in tax, accounting, and other legislation and implement corresponding updates in branch accounting processes, procedures, and instructions.
About you
• at least 5 years of experience in a bank or other financial institution
• good understanding of the Latvian tax system and ability to apply it in practice
• excellent knowledge and understanding of credit and leasing services, as well as accounting for financial products
• analytical thinking
• ability to make independent decisions, justify your opinion, and solve problem situations
• strong communication and collaboration skills
• accuracy and high sense of responsibility
• experience working with accounting systems
• excellent Latvian and good English language skills, both spoken and written
• higher or incomplete higher education in economics, finance, or management sciences, or professional qualification in accounting.
